The Canary Islands are not included in the VAT region. Although politically we belong to Spain, we have our own rules and local tax, IGIC, which needs to be charged to clients in the Canary Islands.
It’s important we know when we set up your business, or if it expands, where your final clients will be located, and whether they are individual clients or companies. This will affect the tax you need to charge and also the retentions you may need to apply.
The rules are different, depending on whether they are in the Canary Islands, in the mainland, inside or outside of the EU, or all over the world.
We can advise you on how to handle your taxes and invoicing if you bill clients from outside the Canary Islands.
